Devising activities for students under five
Students Guoguo and Meyrem have recently completed practical assessments for the unit 'Provide a Creative Activity' as part of their Level 1 Award in Caring for Children Under Five. Both students were required to independently plan and deliver a creative activity.

Meyrem devised a hands-on salt dough crafting activity. She prepared the dough herself, ensuring the tabletops were covered before providing the children with cookie cutters. She gently guided the children throughout the activity, encouraging their creativity and fine motor skills.
Once the activity was complete, Meyrem said:
'I felt it was very easygoing and the children really enjoyed it. It was a refreshing break from my exam revision and brought a smile to my face. I'm grateful to my fellow students Guoguo and Esperanza for their help in preparing for this assessment. I think it was a success.'
Guoguo opted for a more physical approach, planning and executing an engaging exercise activity set to age-appropriate music. The session not only entertained the children but also helped with their co-ordination.

Guoguo had to plan the music and exercise routine and find a suitable space for the activity, which was held in the gym. She received help from Personal Training students to move gym equipment. She also made rainbow streamers to hand out to the class, to help with their movement and expression.
Guoguo said:
'I enjoyed the experience although I was a bit nervous at first. I was initially concerned about the children lacking attention or getting upset but it all went very well.'
Both students provided excellent activities and are now eagerly awaiting feedback.
