Students gain invaluable work experience
At RNC we believe in providing our students with crucial work experience opportunities, which is an area many have been excluded from before joining us. In June, we held one of our dedicated work experience weeks, and our students embraced the chance to explore various career paths and develop new skills. Here's a glimpse into just a few of the exciting placements our students undertook:

Shabaz joined the College's Fundraising Department, where he quickly proved himself to be a valuable asset. He designed a promotional poster, helped develop a new initiative, co-ordinated with other departments, and even interviewed a fellow student to support a funding rationale.
His professionalism and motivation shone through. Fiona Bain, Senior Fundraiser, commented:
'Shabaz was an enthusiastic and articulate student who brought focus and good humour to every task. His contributions to our Fundraising team were both creative and strategic.'
Leah spent time with CJP Broadcast Service Solutions Ltd, a company which actively promotes disability inclusion in the broadcast industry. Leah visited their studio to film a promotional video for her new Goalball club in Surrey. CJP Broadcasting, who have collaborated with RNC since 2023, utilised their virtual production facilities to support Leah in her efforts.

With a keen interest in museums and history, Amy immersed herself into the Victorian world at the Judge's Lodging in Presteigne. This wonderfully preserved court building offers a "hands-on" experience, and Amy even had fun filling the judge's bath using authentic Victorian apparatus.

Six students swapped their student hats for those of budding journalists for a week. They held daily editorial meetings in the College's Newsroom, brainstormed topics, researched, and wrote for their very own newsletter. The proof is in the reading – you can read the fruits of their labours

Fionn joined the team at Lakeside Cafe in Llandrindod Wells for a week. He was eager to enhance his customer service and communication skills. His enthusiasm, willingness to learn, and great sense of humour left a lasting impression on the team.
Alyssia returned for a second week to HCR Law, where she continued to impress. The team at HCR Law noted:
'Alyssia is confident, bright, attentive, and asks great questions. She has a wicked sense of humour. We wish her all the best with her law degree and have no doubt she will make a fabulous lawyer one day.'
A huge thank you to all the organisations that provided such meaningful work experience for our students. These real-world experiences are invaluable as they prepare for their future careers.
